Autograph of Jack Williams, a mysterious TITANIC crewman

Identifier: 2020.39.7168
Abstract
The alleged autograph of "Jack Williams," a possibly fictional TITANIC crew member, on a cover leaf cut from the book A Night to Remember. A crew member named "Seaman Jack Williams" was cited in sensational news reports about shootings as the last lifeboats were being loaded, and the book A Night to Remember mentions this as an example of how absurd the news coverage was. However, there is no record of a Jack Williams in the crew. It might be an alias, or possibly he was entirely fictional.
