Dr. Blackmarr note about Cooper painting, 1912
Abstract
A note by Dr. Frank H. Blackmarr, a passenger on the CARPATHIA who created an album of photographs and text documenting the rescue of the TITANIC survivors. This note is written on his medical history notepaper. It says "Painted by Mr. Cooper on the "Carpathia" from his drawings & these photographs, placing the Carpathia in the position she occupied in relation to the large "doubled spired" iceberg, which the Titanic struck and to the boats on the left side of steamer-- coming toward her. -unpublished-" He is referring to the watercolor by Colin Campbell Cooper in our collection, 2020.39.7385, which was part of Dr. Blackmarr's album.
