Entertainment Programme, CARONIA, 1925, 28 August 1925
Abstract
A program for a "Grand Concert" held in the Cabin Dining Saloon on the CARONIA on August 28, 1925. The chairman for the concert was R.S. Hudson, Esq., a British Member of Parliament who would later be the Minister for Agriculture. The CARONIA's orchestra was part of the concert, but most of the other performers were passengers. H. Pembroke Dahlquist was a singer from Boston, Mr. R.R. Helriegel was from Scranton, Pennsylvania and would later be a successful banker, and Miss Hazel Huntingdon was an opera singer in New York. The final item on the program is by a passenger "Mr. Berger" listed as "Negro Entertainer," which may have been a blackface minstrel performance. The back page lists the seamen's charities that would be benefitted by the concert.
