QUEEN MARY Plan of First Class Accomodations
Abstract
A fold-out brochure with deck plans showing first class cabins and other facilities on the QUEEN MARY. In full color, with a red and black theme on the cover. There are photographs of the ship's public spaces and of elegantly dressed people enjoying those spaces. Undated, but the text notes prominently that the ship is fitted with "level-ride stabilizers that virtually eliminate the roll of the sea." In 1957-58, the QUEEN MARY was refitted with stabilizer fins that did indeed eliminate a tendency to roll that had plagued the ship from its beginning in 1936. This brochure probably post-dates that refit. The use of the slogan "Getting there is half the fun," introduced by Cunard as it faced increased greater competition from air travel, is also consistent with a late 1950s or early 1960s date.
