"Horse Race Card" from the QUEEN MARY, 30 June 1932
Abstract
A "Race Card" program from a "horse racing" event on the QUEEN MARY. This was a popular pastime on ocean liners, using small wooden horses moved along a track based on dice rolls, and with people betting on the various contestants. The horses all have tongue-in-cheek names, as do the races. The rules are also humorous: "A Horse will be disqualified and its Owner warned-off if it: (a) Kicks or jostles another Horse during the Race; (b) Hangs on to the tail of the lading Horse; (c) Acts in any way unbecoming to its pedigree." There is also a note that the event is "pari-mutual betting." Teal cover with a horse racing graphic.
