Abstract

Correspondence and research material, including typwritten notes, bibliography, published and unpublished articles, and drawings, of model ship maker, collector, and amateur maritime historian Clarkson A. Collins, Jr. (1844-1941). The collection also includes a catalog of a selection Collins' models, and correspondence with Howard Chapelle. The collection documents many of his models, most of which have been widely scattered in subsequent years.The bulk of the materials was created between 1920 and 1939, with scattered documents from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
