Biography of Henry C. White
Henry C. White (1861-1952) was born in Hartford, Connecticut and lived in Waterford, Connecticut. He was an artist whose primary subject matter was Connecticut landscapes and seascapes. Henry C. White was an avid yachtsman and maintained an extensive correspondence with Nathanael G. Herreshoff, L. Francis Herreshoff and other members of the Herreshoff family. His son Nelson C. White (1900-1989) and grandson Nelson H. White (1932-) were also sailors and artists.

Collection, 1901-1951, of Henry C. White (1861-1952), avid yachtsman and artist. Includes personal and business correspondence with Nathanael G. Herreshoff, L. Francis Herreshoff and other members of the Herreshoff family and Herreshoff Manufacturing Company as well as scrapbooks, magazine and newspaper articles, Marine Historical Association material, maps and other items associated with yachting. Collection also includes correspondence between Nelson C. White (1900-1989) and Nelson H. White (1932-) with the Herreshoffs. This collection does not contain any material from Henry C. White’s artwork.
