History of Dauntless Shipyard (Essex, Conn.)
The Dauntless Shipyard began in 1910 under the ownership of W. Frank Harrison of Essex, Connecticut. It was also known as Frank Harrison’s yard. Major William Smyth (1880-1980) was employed at this yard as manager in 1925. After World War II the yard was owned by Robert Croft until he sold it to D. Blagden, a co-owner of the Essex Boat Works.
