Biography of Lawley, Frederick D.

Frederick D. Lawley (1878-1953) was a yacht designer and boatbuilder in Quincy, Massachusetts. He had studied naval architecture at MIT and by 1902 was a designer in the firm of George Lawley & Son, run by his father, George Frederick Lawley (1848-1928). This firm, which would later become George Lawley & Son, Corp., was founded by George F. with his father, George (1823-1915) in 1866. Fred Lawley worked for his father until starting his own yard, F. D. Lawley, Inc. in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1925. Vessels are known to have been built by that firm until 1932.
