Glenn E. Furness (1903-1968) was an independently trained vessel designer, builder, and small boat operator from Alexandria Bay, New York. He supervised the construction of pleasure vessels for Chance Marine Construction Co. of Maryland, beginning in 1923. By 1925 he was self-employed in designing, building, and supervising alterations for recreational and commercial vessels. He was foreman of Bagley and Sewall Co., boatbuilders from 1936 to 1941. As of 1941 he was chief engineer, naval architect, and superintendent of construction at Hutchinson's Boat Works, Inc., Alexandria Bay, New York, a company of which he was also a minority shareholder.
