Biographical / Historical
These plans were drawn and collected by Lois Darling. Her research concerning the appearance of the H.M.S. Beagle during the time of Charles Darwin's circumnavigation of the world, 1831-36, resulted in her collecting copies of surviving early vessel plans and documents. She used this information to draw her own plans for the construction of a full ship model. She also researched and created a model of Ratty?s Boat from the book Wind In The Willows. The final plans for this boat model are not represented in the collection.
