Biographical / Historical
Francis Sweisguth designed the Star Class one-design yacht in 1911 while working for William Gardner in Port Washington, New York. The Star was based on Mr. Gardner?s Bug class design of 1906. The International Star Class Yacht Racing Association, commonly known as the ISCYRA, was formed in January 1922. These plans also document the transition from wooden to fiberglass hulls.
