Biographical / Historical
These plans are from the personal collection of Robert (Bob) S. Blumenstock (1920-1997), yachtsman, naval architect, yacht surveyor, yacht measurer and marine consultant. Mr. Blumenstock studied naval architecture at MIT and later worked at Sparkman & Stephens from 1944 to 1947. He was the staff surveyor for Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company and later operated his own surveying business. He was the official measurer for the New York Yacht Club from 1951-1980 and measurer for the International 5.5 Meter Class Association, the Atlantic Class Association, and the Etchels 22 Class Association. He also measured yachts competing in the America?s Cup races from 1958-1980. He was a member of many yacht clubs and a charter member of the National Association of Marine Surveyors. The plans for the yachts represented in this collection range in date from 1928 to 1969.
