This collection contains maps and charts that were not assigned to one of the primary Boggs and Lewis numeric ranges at the time of inventory or that carry nonstandard, incomplete, or local classification values. Materials may include published maps, nautical charts, and related cartographic items retained with the Charts & Maps collections but not fully integrated into the main Boggs and Lewis arrangement.

Arrangement
This collection is arranged according to the Boggs and Lewis map classification system, developed by the Library of Congress in 1945. The system organizes maps and charts first by the geographic area they cover and then by subject, such as topographic, geological, political, nautical, or other map types. This arrangement reflects the physical organization of the materials in the map cabinets. Within each Boggs and Lewis classification number, items are arranged by inventory number and date.
