Originally tool shed, circa 1841, and work shop of Dr. C.K. Stillman. One of the 3 founders of MHA. Probably built by Amos Clift who built the Clark Greenman House, 53 Greenmanville Ave. Located in rear of Clark Greenman House. In 1951 remodeled with $1,000 contribution by Mrs. Tiffany Blake. Moved to temporary site in new entrance area 1959 to make room for Planetarium. Permanent location on corner of commons 1960 - South end adjacent to George Stone Store. Gift of Harriet G. Stillman in memory of her son. Named in honor of Mrs. Blake’s grandmother, Frances Tift Pynchon, born in Mystic 1824. Small addition in 1956 with funds from Latouche bequest. Mrs. T.G. Latouche’s death in 1956. 3 relief paintings acc. in 1943 by Mrs. Munson - Dwight Franklin maker.
