Office removed from interior Sept. 1966 - repairs made on the forges, tools removed that were not 19th century.; 1973 designed and installed to bring heavy iron into forge chimney on back berth rebuilt to accommodate this.; Chain plates set for L.A. DUNTON forged by Gene Patten ($823.54 from Blair Fund).; Nov. 5, 1973 work will commence to shore up and align shop. Work will consist of latching the front forge chimney down below the roof line, jacking up the East side, installing a proper foundation and replacing sills as necessary. The shop will be closed to the public during this work. Eventually the front forge will be completely demolished and rebuilt. Work to be done by Ernst (Ed) and maintenance carpenters assisted by curatorial workers. Research by William C. Weintraub.
