Originally named MARIE MATHILDE -- On May 23, 1948 a group of Latvian refugees, who formed a company and secretly purchased the boat, sailed from Gottenberg with 29 men, women and children. They were bound for the United States for political asylum. -- In 1955 she took part in several scenes of the motion picture Carousel. -- Due to GRUNDEL being unsafe, sale did not go through and she was scuttled. -- At Mystic Seaport 1961-1969 - Disposed
