On the Island of Mauri in Hawaii - foundation formed in 1962 -- Goal of foundation - preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the town of Lahaina, once the royal capitol of Hawaii and the home of Hawaiian leaders who instituted social and economic relationships with missionaries, whalers and traders. The town has remained relatively unchanged since the capitol was moved to Honolulu and the whaling trade declined. -- 31 acres in heart of the town, Lahaina, Old Seamen’s Cemetery restored. -- Rev. Dwight Baldwin home - headquarters -- 120 year old US Marine Hospital to be renovated, etc. -- CARTHAGINIAN replica here. Used in movie Hawaii.
