This collection is primarily the business history of Loring's City Point Works in South Boston, from 1874 to 1894, when the yard was closed. The papers occupy 3 document boxes and are arranged by year and subject. Box 1 contains general business papers, the earlier files providing a great deal of information for the contract work on Cruiser #1 (U.S.S. MARBLEHEAD), and three sea-going tugboats.
