Forbes Family Papers
Primarily logbooks, account books, crew lists, passenger lists, protests, and sailing orders for the ships FRANCIS DEPAU (1836-1843) and SULLY (1833-1835), masters Cleaveland A. Forbes and Thomas Forbes. The collection also includes correspondence, estate papers, diaries, records for the family farm in Perth Amboy, and other family materials.
Forseth-Tift Family Collection
The Forseth-Tift family collection primarily contains correspondence between various family members regarding Preston and Mystic (Conn.) events and news of friends and family. The collection also contains a a Bill of sale for Phillip and a court summons.
George Elliott Collection
Journals and other documents related to George Elliott’s sealing and whaling voyages, including a contract with Silas E. Burrows and account of Nathaniel Brown Palmer’s last sealing expedition; a lecture Elliott delivered on whales and whaling; family correspondence; an autobiography written by Elizabeth Hill, Elliott’s mother; sketches of Elliott’s inventions; receipts and miscellaneous papers dealing with the Elliott/Hill families and Elliot’s business undertakings.

Hiram Hamilton Maxim Collection
Collection, 1925-1989, consists mainly of logbooks and notebooks kept by Hiram Hamilton Maxim for his boats, GANNET and GANNET II (built 1939), as well as several logbooks kept by his father, Hiram Percy Maxim. It also contains Hiram Hamilton’s notes and newspaper articles about improvements made to a hand-held Radio Direction Finder in addition to manuscripts and pictures for “Precision Coastal Piloting” and “Miscellaneous Piloting Notes and Other Useful Items”.
