The essence of this collection is a series of diaries and journals kept by Calista Stover and her daughter on several voyages by the Ship DANIEL BARNES between 1882 and 1891. Joseph Stover was Master of the vessel and ports of call included Honolulu, Australia, and Japan.

Correspondence, accounts, and other papers, relating to William's activities as master of the brig BELLE OF THE BAY and bark SILAS FISH (managed by J.D. Fish & Co.), chiefly during the voyages to Valparaiso, Chile, including navigational computations (1875-1878) for voyages of the SILAS FISH. Other firms represented include J. & W. Grace Co.

The George Comer Collection contains a small number of letters, some printed matter, and numerous clippings (copies) relative to Comer's voyages and activities. There are also seven whaling/sealing journals and two naval journals, along with four notebooks kept by Capt. Comer.

Gerald W. Mefferd Papers
This collection consists of volumes of diaries kept by Gerald W. Medderd before and during an around-the-world cruise with Ray Kauffman, a long time friend and owner of the ketch HURRICANE. It also contains photocopies of letters written to the family before and during the voyage, customs and consular documents, and a biographical sketch of Ray Kauffman.

The bulk of this collection is approximately 74 letters, primarily between Henry Willis and Sarah Freeman Willis from 1852 to 1860. Other correspondence involves various Willis and Freeman family members including parents, brothers and sisters. These letters offer a view of family relationships and domestic activities for two New York/New Jersey families during the middle years of the 19th century.
