This collection consists primarily of yachts and recreational vessels in sail and power. Mr. Devereux's commercial work is also represented, as well as the work of other designers.

Abstract

The L. Francis Herreshoff collection consists of designs for racing and cruising yachts, canoes, kayaks and other small craft that Herreshoff produced as an independent designer. The collection also includes early work for W. Starling Burgess and illustrations from Norman L. Skene's book "Elements of Yacht Design," as well as plans from other designers.

Abstract The L. Francis Collection consists primarily of Mr. Herreshoff's correspondence between the years 1925 and 1971. In addition, there are drafts of Mr. Herreshoff's books, The Wizard of Bristol, Common Sense of Yacht Design, The Complete Cruiser, and Introduction to Yachting. This collection is composed of plans received individually or in groups small enough that the creation of a distinct collection is not required. This collection will continue to grow and expand as additional plans are received.

Abstract Illustrations of plans designed by Philip L. Rhodes from as early as his 1916 hydroplane to a diesel yacht of 1973. Illustrations depict all types of vessels from small recreational dinghies to large yachts and commercial cargo, as well as many one design and class boats. Very little military work is included.
