W. Starling Burgess Papers
The W. Starling Burgess Papers consists of 19 document boxes, containing approximately 3800 pieces of manuscript material. About 40% of the collection provides information relative to Burgess' involvement with the design and construction of various yachts, especially the J-Boat RANGER (1936-1937). Here, one will also find information on RAINBOW, ENTERPRISE, and other yachts, along with data regarding new techniques in design and construction
William Smyth Papers
This small collection is essentially the business papers of William Smyth, created during his time at the Dauntless and Mystic Shipyards, 1927-1971. Included are yard financial reports, meeting notices, clippings, and business correspondence, all arranged in chronological order.
Winthrop L. Warner Papers
Correspondence, building specifications, sales contracts, vessel weight and displacement calculation tables, ships' plans reprints, design lists, and miscellaneous notes, 1932-1973 resulting from Warner's yacht and vessel design career. Vessels represented include ketch FELISI, research ship SHANG WHEELER, ferry SELDEN IV, and 6 ft. plastic shipmate JOLLY BOAT.
