His mother Emily Goldsmith also survived the sinking, but his father Frank died. On the card, beneath the signature, he has written "3rd Class Survivor." The image is a painting of TITANIC made by artist E.W. Bearman. The card explains that the painting was presented to the TITANIC Enthusiasts of America in 1969.
