Postcard signed by TITANIC survivors
Abstract
A black and white photographic postcard of the TITANIC. It has been signed by three survivors of the disaster, Eva Hart, Bertram V. Dean, and Edith Haisman. All three were children on the TITANIC and became involved in TITANIC historical groups later in their lives. The card was also signed by Don Smith, who was also active in the historical groups and who claimed to be related to Captain Edward Smith, although that was later questioned by some. The postcard was published by J. Beagles & Co. of London and, unlike many postcards issued after the disaster, the ship actually is the TITANIC rather than its sister ship the OLYMPIC. It is captioned "The ill-fated White Star liner TITANIC. The largest ship in the world, which foundered with great loss of life, 15th of April 1912. Off Newfoundland, on her maiden voyage."
