Collection of Howard E. Cornell
Abstract
The collection consists in part of specifications for engines, tugs, dredges, and pilot boats. There are also general business papers, of Reaney, Neafie & Co., and then Neafie and Levy Ship & Engine Building Co. Business correspondence, record books, congressional reports, and documents pertaining to the construction of three destroyers are also included.

Biography of Howard E. Cornell
Howard E. Cornell was a marine engineer and naval architect who acted as the receiving officer for the Neafie and Levy Ship & Engine Building Co., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when it went out of business in the early 1900s. In 1902 the company was building three destroyers, the U.S.S. BAINBRIDGE, BARRY, and CHAUNCEY, for the U.S. Navy.
