Abstract The L. Francis Collection consists primarily of Mr. Herreshoff's correspondence between the years 1925 and 1971. The W. Starling Burgess Papers consists of 19 document boxes, containing approximately 3800 pieces of manuscript material. About 40% of the collection provides information relative to Burgess' involvement with the design and construction of various yachts, especially the J-Boat RANGER (1936-1937). Here, one will also find information on RAINBOW, ENTERPRISE, and other yachts, along with data regarding new techniques in design and construction
