Edwin F. Littlefield Collection
Abstract
Included are accounts, freight lists, receipts, insurance policies, shipping documents, and letters received by Littlefield. The material deals primarily with the direct operation of specific vessels and to shipping activities in general, between 1854 and 1898. Much of the later material is relevant to Littlefield's investments and to financial matters of the family. Among the 27 volumes are 3 diaries of Edwin F. Littlefield, bank books, and several account books. The names of numerous ships and schooners appear throughout the collection.

Biography of Edwin F. Littlefield
Edwin F. Littlefield, of Winterport, Maine, was a ship owner and agent between 1854 and 1898. Littlefield was evidently involved in the management of the ships JOSEPH CLARK, JENNY LIND, CALLENDER, WILLIAM WILCOX, and ALERT, and was associated with E.F. & A. Littlefield.
