Abstract
Colllection of correspondence; accounts; bills; receipts; wage statements; crew lists and other customs documents; mortgage from Patrick McCullough, owner, of Ireland, to Nathaniel T. Gifford, agent, New Bedford, Massachusetts; powers of attorney from McCullough to Gifford, and from Josiah W. Bonney and Isaac Howland, agents under the will of Gifford, to Albert A. Thomas, whaling master; and bills of sale (1871) from Thomas to new ship owners, Louis Arthur Nathan and Andrew Wardrop, of Auckland, New Zealand. Many of the letters are from Albert Thomas to Gifford and Bonney.

History of the Bark ALBION
The ALBION was built at Fairhaven, Massachusetts in 1816; registered at Gibraltar, 1865-1871; in late 1871 re-registered when sold to owners in Auckland, New Zealand. At the time it was sold, the vessel was whaling in the South Pacific.
