The collection contains plans for watercraft in all sizes, sail and power, commercial and recreational. Some wartime work and military conversions of yachts are also included as well as work collected from other designers. This material complements the time line of the material contained within the Philip L. Rhodes collection (Collection 80).

Custom House Document Collection
The collection consists of various Customs documents, primarily from ports on the eastern seaboard, from the late 1700's until 1866. It contains approximately 300 customs documents of different types which were required to be carried by the masters of vessels to prove their cargo was legitimate, and had paid the necessary duties at each port of entry.

The collection contains logbooks, cargo books, and disbursements records for the ships BESTSEY, MARY, TRUMBULL, AND CERES, which cover trading voyages from New York and other East Coast ports to various ports in Europe, the West Indies, and Asia.
Daniel Ventres Papers
Chiefly incoming business letters, primarily 1840-1848, including letters from agents in New York, N.Y. and New Orleans, La. The names of numerous Gulf Coast packets and Connecticut River coasters appear throughout, along with those of several ship captains.
Dauntless Shipyard Collection
Plans mostly for yachts built between 1916 and 1937. Some government work is included.
David Cushman Papers
Logs/journals relating to Cushman's activities as master of ships PROSPERO and KINGFISHER and bark DELPHOS and account book reflecting his vessel and personal accounts.
