Burrows and account of Nathaniel Brown Palmer’s last sealing expedition; a lecture Elliott delivered on whales and whaling; family correspondence; an autobiography written by Elizabeth Hill, Elliott’s mother; sketches of Elliott’s inventions; receipts and miscellaneous papers dealing with the Elliott/Hill families and Elliot’s business undertakings.

Collection, 1856-2006, of John Jones Harlow includes a personal memoir of his life on whalers, a logbook from the whaling brig LEONIDAS, papers relating to whaling and other personal papers. Memoirs and logbook contain descriptions of whaling mutinies, injury at sea as well as shipboard life. Logbook also contains whale and porpoise stamps.

This collection consists of 2 diary-type volumes and 1 scrapbook relative to the career of Joseph J. Fuller, a whaling and sealing ship master from New London, CT. Of singular importance are accounts of the time Fuller and the crew of the New London Sealing Schooner PILOTS BRIDE were shipwrecked on Kerguelen Island for nearly one year. Records from the vessel's last whaling voyage, sailing out of New Bedford, Mass, mastered by Joseph Thompson, on a voyage to the South Atlantic, including papers relating to crew desertions, discharges and additions, repair of the windlass, and the survey, condemning, and sale of the ship in the Seychelles.
