The John Turner Collection contains nine letters, five of which Turner wrote to his wife, Polly, and four of which concern business matters. Included also are bills of lading, insurance policies, cargo manifests, orders, personal accounts, convoy instructions, and customs documentation including enrollments, receipts, and clearance papers.

The Records of Lawrence & Co., 1822-1904, consists of eleven boxes containing approximately 5,800 pieces and 134 volumes which illustrate quite well the whaling, sealing, and commercial activities of the Company as well as its predecessors Miner, Lawrence & Co. and Joseph Lawrence.

The collection includes bills, freight lists, expense records, and accounts with firms in New London and Mystic Bridge, Connecticut; area, New York, N.Y., and Providence, Rhode Island.

This collection contains primarily household papers, bills, family letters, account books, tax statements, and general business transactions of William and Isaac C. Tate of New London, Connecticut.
