Records of the Ship HECTOR
The bulk of these papers is comprised of bills and accounts charged against HECTOR, her captain Amos A. Chase, and William and Benjamin Rotch, between the years 1852 and 1860. Of particular interest is a booklet from Taber, Gordon & Co. (Ship Chandlers & Grocers) of New Bedford, that contains a checklist of every item needed for a whaling voyage.

The collection contains papers relevant to the JULIUS CAESAR's 1836-1837 whaling voyage from New London to the south Atlantic grounds. Included are Articles of Agreement, Bill of Health, Manifest, a slop book, crew bills, and accounts, outfitting accounts with N. & W. W. Billings, and notebook for "oil delivered," casks, and labor.
