Abstract

This collection was assembled by William H. Tripp of New Bedford, Massachusetts and pertains primarily to the subject of whaling. Abstract

The collection has been organized chronologically including letters from Hobart regarding the disposition of vessels and cargo; miscellaneous accounts, receipts, and business agreements; instructions to shipmasters; copies of cargo invoices; accounts of cargo sales; and expenses for construction, repair, and outfitting of various vessels. The papers also covey Hobart's difficulties in the West Indies trade during the French and Indian War (1754-1763.)
