Burgess-Donaldson Collection

Plans produced by W. Starling Burgess from the mid-1920's to the mid-1930's while working in several partnerships. Plans are primarily for sailing yachts, and some one design classes are represented, including M class sloops and 12 meters. Drawings for the America's Cup defenders ENTERPRISE (1930) and RAINBOW (1934) are included.

This collection consists of volumes of diaries kept by Gerald W. Medderd before and during an around-the-world cruise with Ray Kauffman, a long time friend and owner of the ketch HURRICANE. It also contains photocopies of letters written to the family before and during the voyage, customs and consular documents, and a biographical sketch of Ray Kauffman.
