Abstract

The George Comer Collection contains a small number of letters, some printed matter, and numerous clippings (copies) relative to Comer's voyages and activities. There are also seven whaling/sealing journals and two naval journals, along with four notebooks kept by Capt. Comer.

Abstract

This collection consists of 2 diary-type volumes and 1 scrapbook relative to the career of Joseph J. Fuller, a whaling and sealing ship master from New London, CT. Of singular importance are accounts of the time Fuller and the crew of the New London Sealing Schooner PILOTS BRIDE were shipwrecked on Kerguelen Island for nearly one year. Abstract The Mason R. Packer Papers is primarily a scattered collection of financial papers and correspondence. This collection includes receipts, bills and accounts, contained in one document box. Most of the 320 pieces and three small volumes are in good condition. During this time, Mason R. Packer was involved in various shipping and salvaging operations in Connecticut and Florida.
