Abstract

Program for an entertainment held on the LACONIA on October 11, 1930 to benefit British and American seamen's charities. The program included several performances by passengers, as well as music by the ship's orchestra. The chairman for the event was the Mayor of Winchester, England, who was on his way to Winchester, Massachusetts to attend the tercentenary of the Massachusetts Bay Company. Captain M. Doyle is also listed on the program. The back page lists the charities.

Abstract

A "Programme of Events" for the LANCASTRIA's voyage from Europe to New York of September 8-16, 1928. There are just one to three events each day, with dances, concerts, and a fancy dress ball. The events also include "horse racing" (with wooden horses and dice), progressive bridge, and a children's sports event. The cover has the name of the captain, J.C. Townley.

Records of the racing yacht Atlantic. Includes several pieces of ephemera from her victory in the 1905 Ocean Race for the Kaiser's Cup, as well as a small journal kept on board for the race. Collection also includes a number of newspaper clippings detailing her construction, successes under the ownership of Wilson Marshall, and eventual loss.

Abstract A common stock certificate for 40 shares of International Mercantile Marine Company from 1915. This company, controlled by John Pierpoint Morgan, was the parent of the White Star Line, which owned the TITANIC and its sister ships among others. This stock certificate was signed by Philip Albright Small Franklin, Vice President of the company as of 1915.
